About Tour

As its title suggests, this comprehensive tour covers all the major attractions of southwest Iceland, beginning with a drive to the national park and former parliament site at Thingvellir and continuing through the mountains to the area around the lake Laugarvatn, known for its high level of seismic activity. The trip then continues to Gullfoss, the Queen of Icelandic waterfalls, returning to Reykjavík via Skálholt, site of Iceland's first episcopal see, founded in 1056, and the garden village of Hveragerði. ITINERARY Starting from Reykjavik, your journey will take you to Iceland's most renowned attractions within the Golden Circle: Thingvellir National Park, Geysir Hot Springs,Gullfoss Waterfall. We ensure you have ample time to immerse yourself in the stunning scenery and rich history at each stop. Þingvellir (Thingvellir National Park) is a site of immense historical significance in Iceland. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is where Iceland's first Althing (Parliament) was established in 930. The park is also notable for the rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, creating a spectacular canyon. The park's crystal- clear waters, ponds, and fissures, coupled with its profound historical context, make it a breathtaking destination. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must-visit when traveling through Iceland. The Geysir Hot Spring Area is situated in the Haukadalur Valley. This is where you'll find the famous Geysir, which lent its name to geysers worldwide. The area is rich with steam and geothermal wonders. Currently, Strokkur is the most active geyser, erupting every 4-10 minutes, offering visitors an exhilarating experience. Next on the itinerary is Gullfoss, or the Golden Falls, one of Iceland's most powerful waterfalls. With a drop of over 30 meters (98 feet) and two cascading tiers, Gullfoss has captivated locals since Viking times. Now, it's your turn to explore this majestic waterfall. Another highlight of this tour is the Kerid (Kerið) crater lake, often called "The Eye of the World" due to its unique appearance. The 3,000-year-old lake, surrounded by red volcanic rocks and vibrant green vegetation, is filled with striking aquamarine water, providing a stunning view from above.
